A MEDITATION FOR TWISTS, OR REVOLVED YOGA POSTURES

2 Corinthians 12, 13

I pleaded with the Lord three times for it to leave me alone. He said to me,
My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.”

So I’ll gladly spend my time bragging about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power can rest on me. Therefore, I’m all right with weaknesses, insults, disasters, harassment, and stressful situations for the sake of Christ, because when I’m weak, then I’m strong.
I’ve become a fool! You made me do it. Actually, I should have been commended by you. I’m not inferior to the super-apostles in any way, even though I’m a nonentity. The signs of an apostle were performed among you with continuous endurance through signs, wonders, and miracles. How were you treated worse than the other churches, except that I myself wasn’t a financial burden on you? Forgive me for this wrong!

Christ isn’t weak in dealing with you but shows his power among you. Certainly he was crucified because of weakness, but he lives by the power of God. Certainly we also are weak in him, but we will live together with him, because of God’s power that is directed toward you.

Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Test yourselves.
Don’t you understand that Jesus Christ is in you? Unless, of course, you fail the test. But I hope that you will realize that we don’t fail the test. We pray to God that you don’t do anything wrong, not because we want to appear to pass the test but so that you might do the right thing,
even if we appear to fail.

We can’t do anything against the truth but only to help the truth.
We are happy when we are weak but you are strong. We pray for this: that you will be made complete. This is why I’m writing these things while I’m away. I’m writing so that I won’t need to act harshly when I’m with you by using the authority that the Lord gave me.
He gave it to me so that I could build you up, not tear you down.

A Meditation for Prone Postures

Prone Yoga Poses are poses done lying on our belly. They
allow us to literally "lay it all down."  Surrender our will and simply throw in our towel. It is a time to rest in His presence and hear His voice. Let the silence bring you to His voice.

Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)

Psalms 139 is an amazing chapter that you can meditate on in any posture but specifically appropriate for lying down in His presence.

Psalms 139

O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.

Even before there is a word on my tongue,

Behold, O Lord, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
And the light around me will be night,” Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When I awake, I am still with You.
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.

REFINE is to Purify, a lengthy and often painful process

Do you feel as if you are being sifted like fine flour? Well, you are. Even though it doesn't feel great, I promise you this is GOOD NEWS!

Refining flour, sugar, or gold is a major process that takes a "bit" of time.
 Be encouraged through the process.
Let God shake and shift all that is not necessary in your life so you can live the life He has planned for you.

It's painful to die to self. This is the refining process and the final product will be worth the pain!
Remember the silver and it's maker? The maker continues to place the silver into the fire, repeatedly burning off the imperfections until He can see His own reflection.

Benefits of Backbends and a Meditation for Backbends

Natarajasana, Lord of the Dance Pose

BACKBENDS

Job 11:13 If only you would prepare your heart and lift up your hands to him in prayer!

    Backbends will lift your heart to the Lord. These poses come from leg strength, so the bottom half of your body must be completely engaged and strong for a successful backbend. You have to root down in the feet, be strong in the Lord, then you can lengthen, rise up, and lift your heart towards the heavens.

Ez 31:7 It was strong and beautiful, with wide-spreading branches, for its roots went deep into abundant water. (NLT)

    Like twists, back bend postures can be incorporated into many asana (postures) families; such as seated, standing, balancing, prone or supine poses.The nervous, digestive, and metabolic systems are all stimulated in backbend postures. They are known to be rejuvenating and invigorating, for this reason it may not be a good idea to practice them near bedtime or when wanting to relax.

    Back bends stretch the entire abdominal and release the chest muscles, allowing circulation to flow freely to the heart and lungs. Mental clarity and focus can be a result of backbends as cerebral spinal fluids are circulated throughout the system. Back bends also stimulate the lymphatic system, pumping lymphatic fluids, by opening the shoulders, chest, armpits and groin where lymph nodes and glands are located. Backbending causes pressure on the kidneys and adrenals which not only enhances the cleansing action, but also releases adrenaline, causing the invigorating sensation.

   The spine remains pliable while strength is required and developed throughout the entire body. Backward bends are dynamic postures which move to counter gravity. Generally speaking, we spend a lot of time on the front of our body, these postures need to be incorporated for a well balanced practice, as they will stretch and strengthen primarily the front of the abdomen, hips, thighs, shoulders, spine, and chest. A lot of stress, tension, or trauma can be trapped in our core center, back bend postures can help release deep tension, mild depression, and trapped emotional trauma.

    It is always a good idea to release the worked muscles from backbends by doing forward fold and/or forward bends. Individuals with back injuries, who are pregnant or are menstruating should avoid back bends. Back bends will not only rejuvenate, but will also leave you with an overall sense of well being.

A Meditation for a Back Bend

Is.57:12-15
I will bring evidence about your righteousness and your actions;
they won’t help you. When you cry out, let those things you’ve gathered save you!
The wind will lift them all; one breath will take them away.
but those taking refuge in me will inherit the
land and possess my holy mountain.

It will be said: “Survey, survey; build a road! Remove barriers from my people’s road!”
The one who is high and lifted up, who lives forever, whose name is holy, says:
I live on high, in holiness,
and also with the crushed and the lowly,
reviving the spirit of the lowly,
reviving the heart of those who have been crushed...
It is my own doing that their spirit is exhausted—
I gave them breath!

Child's Pose, Psalms 95 Let us Bow Down & Worship

http://yogafaith.org/a-meditation-for-restorative-worship-postures/

A Meditation for Restorative & Worship Postures
Psalms 95
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Today, if only you would hear his voice…
