The Chakra System is a visual template for understanding how to maintain spiritual, physical, emotional, and social balance within the body and those around us. They are centers of life force and vital energy that God has created in each one of us. Chakras correspond to vital points in the physical body such as major plexuses of arteries, veins and nerves. The Sanskrit definition of Chakra is “wheel” or “turning”. Yogic theology says to visualize a spinning disk, releasing vital energy or life force throughout out the physical body, but in YogaFaith, we know this as the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to release vitality and life force within us.
The chakra system is a way for the yoga world to illustrate what God designed in our bodies. Each energy center is related to certain life issues, organs, and specific glands. Many times we trap tension and trauma in various locations and these locations can be associated with specific energy centers, or Chakras. When we have emotional or physical tensions and/or trauma, this could be something trapped deep in our core such as sexual abuse we may not even remember, this can block our life. For example, have you ever held an offense, harbored any bitterness or un-forgiveness and when you opened your self to surrender that, you felt an enormous release and life was able to “flow” again? This is what unblocking a Chakra feels like. We want to give all this junk and garbage to God and surrender it completely, once-and-for-all to Him, so that our life can freely flow.

Let’s dive deeper into how parallel the Chakra system is to the Word of God
Chakra 7: THOUGHT. “I understand.” THE CONNECTION TO YOUR DIVINE PURPOSE AND SPIRITUALITY
Get wisdom, get understanding… Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; the beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Prov.4:5-7
This is known as the crown chakra that relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to the greater world beyond our Earthly world and the one we see with our fleshly eyes. Being one with Christ and His spirit, this allows our spiritual eyes to see. Through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, this energy center that Christ created, brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, and the realization that we have all power working within us, it began the day we receive Christ as our personal Savior.
I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. Isaiah 45:3
God tells us that His thoughts are not our thoughts, and our thoughts are not His. (Hallelujah and Amen!) As we become yoked to Christ. He promises to reveal hidden mysteries, wonders, and treasures. There are many great and mighty secrets that we can know just by drawing close to Christ. As we get to the secret place of the most High, our spiritual eyes become fully awakened and there are actually no secrets there in the secret place. As we praise Him, He blasts us with wisdom and knowledge. As soon as we praise Him, Isaiah 45:3 will begin to manifest. Remember when Jehoshaphat praised Him in 2 Chronicles 20? Scripture tells us as soon as the praise left their mouth, God immediately set ambushes against their enemies. So much begins to happen in the spiritual and earthly realms as we begin to praise. Our all-knowing infinite God downloads wisdom and knowledge into our thoughts, intellect, and emotions, what the yoga world describes as the thought chakra. Meditate on Creator of your amazing brain, wisdom, and knowledge.
Chakra 6: LIGHT. “I see.”
(BRAIN, EYES, EARS, NOSE, PINEAL GLAND) CENTER OF INTUITION
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.Eph.1:8
This chakra is known as the brow chakra or third eye center. It is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively. It awakens our understanding and allows us to see clearly and have a healthy perspective on life. With a Christ centered practice, we see the blessing in everything and everybody. We freely receive grace and begin to freely extend grace to others. As we draw closer to the heart of God, we begin to have an eternal perspective. The things that use to seem like big problems, become smaller as we magnify God. To magnify means to enlarge. As we enlarge Christ, everything else becomes smaller and burns off of our lives.
I have seen the task which God has given the sons of men with which to occupy themselves. He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime…Ecc. 3:10-12
We may not always know the answer or be able to see the full scope, we only need to know the one that knows all the answers at sees all!
Chakra 5 SOUND, “I speak.” (THYROID, TRACHEA, THROAT, MOUTH) INNER MAN & CREATIVE IDENTITY
Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die. Exod. 20:19“Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David. Isa.55:3
This is the God given energy center located in the throat and related to communication & creativity. The great thing about YogaFaith is that you create intimate time with Christ, and begin to make it a priority. How can we hear from God if we do not take time to open our ears and listen. How will we know what to speak and share with others, if we are not asking Him to put words in our mouth, show us the way, or speak into our hearts and minds?
Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? Mark 8:18
Some will never be able to perceive what the Lord is saying and doing, they physically and spiritually cannot hear.
They have mouths, but they do not speak; They have eyes, but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not hear, Nor is there any breath at all in their mouths. Ps. 135:16-17
God has blessed each and every one with specific talents and gifts that we must use to glorify Him while living out the plans and purposes that He has for us. We must have the ears to hear what He is calling His children to do on the Earth today. You may have heard the saying that the two most important days are the day you were born and the day you find out why you were born. There is nothing more frustrating than doing something we were never meant to do. We all have seasons where we cry out to God, “Why was I born?! What do you want me to do? What on Earth am I suppose to be doing?” The sooner you find out why you were born, the longer you can use your talents for eternal purposes. He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, understanding, knowledge & in all craftsmanship; to make designs…so as to perform in every inventive work “He also has put in his heart to teach…He has filled them with skill to perform every work of an engraver, a designer & embroiderer, as performers of every work & maker of every design. Ex. 5:31-33
Chakra 4 AIR. “I love.” (HEART, LUNGS, SHOULDERS, RIBS, BREAST, DIAPHRAGM) IDENTITY IN CHRIST, SELF-ACCEPTANCE
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts & minds. Phil.4:7
I think this may be the most powerful energy center that God created in our bodies. Known as the heart chakra, it is related to love, and God is love. He has created us to love deeply, feel compassion and empathy, and be as gracious and loving to others as He first loved us. When our heart is healthy, and we realize our true identity in Christ, we have a peace that passes all understanding and a joy that this world cannot give nor take away!
Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Cor. 13:11Our thoughts, emotions and actions are all powered by love, so we want to continually check in with our heart and make sure we are keeping it clear of all junk. Any walls that have been built, any bitterness, an offense, any unforgiveness, we must daily renew and cleanse ourselves from all of these things. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. 1 John 4:21Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 1 John 4:15-17He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, oh the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace… Eph. 1:5-6
Isn’t love powerful? The next time you get stingy with your grace and love, remember what God went through to save, redeem, forgive, and love you.
Chakra 3 Fire, “I do.”
(ABDOMEN, LIVER, GALL BLADDER, STOMACH, KIDNEYS) POWER & EGO (exhale ego)
Putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. James 1:21-24
It is Christ working in us that makes us strong. He says that in our weakness His strength is perfected. This life force epicenter is known as the power chakra. It is located in the solar plexus and is associated with governing our personal power, will, autonomy, as well as our digestion and metabolism. Because of it’s location, deep folds and revolved postures will cleanse and detox your internal organs and keep everything flowing and healthy. God always gives is the power to choose.
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! Deut. 30:19 NLT
We can let go of our ego and rely on God for absolutely everything. The world may say ego, but God says humility. The world may seek to self serve, but we are to Christ like and serve others. If you always feel like a fish swimming upstream, that is because God is doing work in you. It’s uncomfortable at first, but as His power, grace, strength, and love consume you, His ways become second nature.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Eph.3:19
Chakra 2 WATER. “I feel.”
(ABDOMNE, GENITILIAS WOMB, PELVIS, APPENDIX) EMOTIONS & RELATIONSHIPS
I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. John 13:34
Located in the abdomen, lower back, & sexual organs, this powerful God given life center relates to emotions, relations, and sexuality. It connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation, and movement. It brings us fluidity, grace, depth of feeling, fulfillment, and the ability to accept change. This life center is also associated with water because of the elements of fluidity and grace. One thing is constant and that is change. That is why it so important to remain pliable. The vision and our True North never changes, but sometimes the route, or packages, or the vehicle may change. It is also important to journey with like-minded people that are striving towards a common goal and destination. I ask you, “Who is on your plane? Are you traveling with the right people? Are they suppose to be going with you, is everyone going to the same destination?” These are very important questions. Our inner circle and who we do life with is extremely important. We want to treat all people as Christ demands us to in John 13:34. We are fairly good at treating people good that are similar to us or kind to us. It’s when others are different, look different, believe different, and even smell different that we sometimes forget the love and grace that was freely poured upon us.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2Cor.12:9
Chakra 1, Base or Root Center. EARTH, “I am.”
(PHYSICAL BODY SUPPORT, BLOOD, IMMUNE SYSTEM) SECURITY, FAMILY, & TRUE IDENTITY,
Put your trust in the Lord your God and you will be established. Put your trust in His prophets and succeed.” 2 Chron.20:20If it is so that you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven; of which I, Paul, was made a servant. Col.1:23
Located at the base of the spine, this is the God given core power that forms the foundation of our energy, strength, and ability to act. It represents the elements that are associated to earth & relates to our survival instincts, sense of grounding, connection to our bodies as well as the physical plane. It is the center of our emotional and physical health. When healthy with God’s life force flowing through us, we are able to make wise and sound decisions, have over all health, prosperity, security, as well as the powerful presence of God can exist.
That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted & grounded in love. Eph.3:17
We are to be doers of the word and act upon what we know. Our obedience is an act of sacrifice and worship. We are able to do anything that God has graced us to do.
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Phil 4:13We know that any success is through Him and not in our own strength, otherwise we would all be up a creek! Through Him. He says, “…that I am the great I am.” We are, but we can never be the, “I am.” Oh, isn’t it grand to know the Great I Am?!God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.” Exod 3:14
ENERGY CHANNELS As you already know that our interior and exterior frames are marvelously and wonderfully created by a Master Designer.

Ancient Teachings of Tantra and Kundalini Yoga, which are variations of devotional style yoga, teach that in addition to the seven chakras of the subtle body, the Tantras have described a network of subtle channels known as nadis through which the life force (prana) circulate. It is said that we have more than 72,000 or more such channels or networks through which the life and energy flow like electric currents from one point to another. 72,000 or more, networks withing besides the major seven centers that God placed in us! Is this incredible or what?! Nadi means “stream” and according to the ancient teachings, there is said to be fourteen principal nadis, life streams. They act as connections, just like a nerve, to various points of intensity in our energy centers or Chakras. Of these smaller streams, Ida, Pingala and Sushumna are considered the most important. Ida and Pingala mirror each other on each side of the spine as Sushumna runs through each of our energy centers. Remember, God is energy and that all life force is from Him. Sometimes illustrations are made for some to see how the spiritual world operates and for all of us to attempt to understand these complex designs of the Master.
